Death of Convict Blamed on Guard LANSING, Mich., April 23.—Frank Patterson,. Ionia reformatory inmate, probably died as a result of a blow on the head inflicted by a prison guard, according to Warden Charles Shean. The warden said today that he knew Patterson had been struck on the head by a guard named Leo Rolfe. The blow was delivered in self-defense, he said, and he considered the guard’s action justified. Patterson, the warden as serted, turned on Rolre when he was ordered to his quarters, and with two other inmates attempted a jail delivery.
